Herta Balode has been taking part in art competitions and exhibitions since her studies in Limbaži Art School. One of the artist's first exhibitedand awarded artworks being 2nd place in Jūrmala Art School’s annual exhibition "I live by the Sea" in 2012.
After graduating elementary school, Balode moved to Riga to study in Riga Art and Design Secondary School. Alongside studies, she has been part of an Erasmus+ project in The Ceramics And Glassmaking Secondary Vocational School in Karlovy Vari. As she is also interested in illustration, the artist took the chance to be an intern for "Kuš!" Comics in 2022. In the final year of secondary school, Herta Balode won 2nd/3rd place and her first money prize in the painting competition "Picasso" held by Janis Rozentāls Riga Art School in 2023.
On her first year in the Art Academy of Latvia in 2023, Balode won the Latvian State Forest Scholarship in Art. In the beginning of 2025, her painting "Sunrise" was featured in the Tikkurila Color Now 2025 presentation event. Since the beginning of 2026, Balode's artworks have been part of auctions held by gallery "Antonija". During June of the same year, her paintings were exhibited in a solo exhibition "From Dream A to Dream B" held in "M/Gallery", Riga.
